why work with me

My goal is for you to integrate the insights and healing you cultivate in therapy into your everyday life. I often hear of a gap between the clarity people experience in therapy and the way they feel in their lives in between sessions. Therapy with me is a space for learning how to embody that which you seek into your life between sessions, moment-to-moment.

While my approach is based in somatics (the body-mind connection) my clinical orientation is deeply informed by neuroscience and contemplative traditions.

WHAT TO EXPECT

Our work together will be organically tailored to your own uniqueness, as we focus on what is most relevant for you. However, the following themes echo through my work with all whom I work:

The language of body: You will learn to recognize the physical sensations of stress, tension, anxiety, etc. as messengers holding important insight, rather than issues to eliminate. Together, we’ll decode these messages so that you learn to respond in effective and compassionate ways. In this way, symptoms become portals to growth, understanding, and wellbeing.

Spotlight on regulation: You will learn to recognize the brilliant ways your system naturally regulates itself, and we will complement this brilliance with simple and powerful tools that support shifting out of habitual anxiety and into engaged presence.

Sustainable wellbeing: As you explore a new baseline of underlying steadiness, you will learn to welcome all aspects of your experience (both the wanted and the unwanted) as portals back to wellbeing. Freeing you from the rollercoaster of conditional wellness, and positioning yourself as the most effective member of your support system.
